Sandy Bridge Processors is the second generation of i Core processors developed my Intel. It is intended to increase performance while maintaining its core transistor. It has an updated security system with commands transmitted through 3G or an internet connection. Now, it has released its latest model – Pentium G6960.

Intel Sandy Bridge Pentium G6960
Pentium G6960 according to Intel is an enhanced micro-architecture of Westmere which uses the 32nm manufacturing process. It has a dimension of 1.48 by 1.48 inch with part number CM80616005373AA and S-Spec number of SLBT-6. It features a dual Clarkdale core chip clocked at 2.93GHz. It will have a shared 3MB of L3 cache system and an integrated DDR3 SDRAM memory controller. It works for socket 1156 motherboards and can support DDR3 – 1066 memory.
It features SSE, SSE2, SSE3, extended SSE3, SSE4.1 and SSE4.2. It can support a maximum of 16GB memory with 2 memory channels using the EM64T technology with a maximum bandwidth of 17GB/s. EM64T allows backward compatibility to 32 bit operating system while also taking advantage of the 62 bit operating system. As to its expansion options, it features the PCI-E Revision 2.0 with only 1 slot for PCI-E ports.
It has Integrated Graphics and Intel HD Graphics in 533 MHz base frequency. It allows Intel Flexible Display Interface that allows communication between the GPU and PCH Southbridge where displays are located. It also permits Dual Display and Idle States. It has Intel Virtualization technology provides more adaptability and maximizes utilization of a computer system. Its Enhanced SpeedStep Technology reduces its power consumption when it does not need maximum performance or in power saving mode.
Execute Disable Bit acts as an added security system which controls where applications can be coded and executed, thus worms and other viruses cannot manipulate a system. It also features Direct Media Interface that connects the Intel southbridge and northbridge for coordinated and efficient data processing. It has a data flow of about 2.5GT/s.
The Sandy Bridge Pentium G6960 was released last January 15, 2011 with an introduction budget price of $89.00. Along with its release, six different processors dropped their prices.
